Wycombe Wanderers unveil 2026/27 home kit with 1996/97 nod

Wycombe Wanderers unveiled their new home kit for the 2026/27 season on May 2, and the launch landed before the Chairboys’ final home game against already-relegated Rotherham United. The change matters because Wanderers have not switched kits after just one season since the 2022/23 campaign.

Wycombe Wanderers and the 1996/97 look

The shirt has a similar resemblance to the 1996/97 campaign, giving the reveal a clear link to an earlier period in the club’s history. Three injured players — Anders Hagelskjær, Caolan Boyd-Munce and Jack Grimmer — wore the new shirt ahead of kick-off, putting the design in view before the match began.

Club shop queues at Adams Park

Supporters had already felt the change in the club shop before the kit was shown on the pitch. Wycombe said this season’s shirts were reduced by 50 per cent, and the price cut led to huge queues entering the store. For fans deciding whether to buy now or wait for the new strip, the old stock was already being cleared fast.

August 15 for the EFL

The timing also points forward to the next season, with the 2026/27 EFL campaign due to start on August 15. Wycombe’s post on May 2 introduced the shirt as the club’s “brand-new electric home kit for 2026/27 ??”, and the launch gives the squad and supporters a first look at the shirt well before the new season begins.
