Avanti West Coast Restores Milton Keynes Railway Emergency Lines

Avanti West Coast said the milton keynes railway emergency blocked all lines on Friday evening and forced delays and cancellations during the rush hour. By about 19:00 BST, the operator said the lines had reopened, but it warned that passengers should still expect residual delays.

The operator warned passengers of delays because of an earlier emergency at Milton Keynes railway station. It said emergency services were responding to an incident near the railway at Milton Keynes, and that all lines were blocked while they dealt with it.

The blockage hit services at a busy travel time, with passengers facing disruptions across the network into the evening. Avanti West Coast said tickets were being accepted on a number of other routes and operators while the lines were shut and after they reopened.

Avanti West Coast posted that all lines had reopened by about 19:00 BST on Friday, but it said residual delays remained after the incident. More details of the services affected were available on the National Rail website.

The remaining delays meant the disruption did not end when the tracks reopened. For passengers already travelling, the immediate task was to check the affected services before setting out again or making a connection.
