Sooners Lead 5-3 as Oklahoma Softball Suspended in Sixth

Oklahoma softball led 5-3 when Thursday night’s game against No. 12 Texas A&M was suspended in the bottom of the sixth inning at Davis Diamond. The delay halted Game 1 of the Aggies’ final regular season series against No. 1 Oklahoma with the result still unfinished.

Ella Parker Powers Oklahoma

Ella Parker drove the Sooners’ offense with a two-run home run to center field in the top of the second inning, then added another RBI later on a ground ball that led to a fielding error by Tallen Edwards. Kai Minor also delivered in that second inning, sending a ball to left-center field that brought in two runners.

Those early swings put Oklahoma in front 4-0 before Texas A&M answered in the bottom of the second. Paislie Allen hit a ground ball up the middle that scored Kelsey Mathis and Ariel Kowalewski, trimming the margin to 4-2 and keeping the game within reach.

Texas A&M Keeps Climbing

Texas A&M cut into the deficit again in the bottom of the fifth when Edwards doubled down the right-field line to bring in Kennedy Powell. That made it 5-3 before the weather delay stopped play in the sixth.

The suspended game now sits without a resumption date or time, so the first game of the series remains open while the teams move toward Friday’s second game. Game 2 is still scheduled for a 5 p.m. first pitch, leaving the Aggies with a short turnaround after a night that already featured eight combined runs and several lead changes in momentum.
