Bernie Kosar Back in Hospital for Another Procedure

bernie kosar said Saturday morning that he was back in the hospital for another procedure, extending a recovery that has already included a liver transplant and multiple readmissions. He did not name the procedure, but he told followers he expected to push through it and be back next week.

Kosar’s Saturday update

In a Facebook video, Kosar said, "Going a little to hard. Found my way back into the hospital. Lets get this procedure over with and have a winning day. See you next week. UMatter." The message was short, but it added another stop to a recovery that has not settled since his transplant in November.

That recovery has been heavy on medical complications. Kosar was diagnosed with liver failure and Parkinson’s disease in summer 2024, had a liver transplant on Nov. 17, 2025, and then experienced E. coli blood poisoning in December 2025. He was back in the hospital in early January after what he described as a small rejection of his transplant.

After the transplant

The current hospital visit lands months after the transplant and after Kosar publicly thanked Bryce Dunlap’s family for what he called a "great gift." Dunlap, 21, of North Olmsted, died unexpectedly due to complications from an anoxic brain injury, and Kosar received the liver from him.

Kosar’s latest note also followed a public appearance Thursday at the groundbreaking for the new Cleveland Browns stadium in Brook Park. On social media, he called it a "big night to be apart of," then less than 48 hours later said he was back in the hospital.

Brook Park and beyond

For Browns fans, the sequence is the point: a visible public appearance, then another hospital stay tied to a transplant recovery that has already included infection and rejection concerns. Kosar has not given a procedure detail, so the only clear development is that his recovery remains active and ongoing on a day-by-day basis.
