Cooper Dejean Headlines Eagles' Eight-Player UDFA Class
cooper dejean was not part of the move, but he is the name the Eagles are tying to their rookie-camp rollout after announcing eight undrafted free-agent signings on Friday. The class arrived as rookie minicamp got underway, giving the team a small but targeted group of first-year additions to sort through.
The Eagles signed defensive back Kapena Gushiken, defensive back Tucker Large, linebacker Deontae Lawson, defensive back Maximus Pulley, guard Jaeden Roberts, long snapper Rocco Underwood, defensive end Joshua Weru through the International Player Pathway program, and tight end Dae’Quan Wright. That is the second-smallest undrafted free-agent class the Eagles have assembled after the draft in the last five years.
Underwood Gives Eagles a Long Snapper
Underwood now gives the Eagles a long snapper on the roster, and he enters a direct competition for the job held by Charley Hughlett and Cal Adomitis in 2025. The Florida product appeared in 50 games over five seasons at Florida and hails from Lake Mary, Florida.
Weru brings a different kind of project. The 6-foot-4, 244-pound defensive end comes from Nairobi, Kenya, has a background in rugby, has yet to play organized football, and enrolled at Arizona State in 2024 while pursuing a bachelor’s in business administration.
Lawson Reunites With Jihaad Campbell
Lawson is the most established defender in the group. At 6-3 and 224 pounds, he started 41 games and made 52 appearances over five years at Alabama after redshirting his freshman year, piling up 6½ sacks, 283 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, 17 pass breakups and an interception.
He led Alabama with 89 tackles in 2025 and is set to reunite with former Crimson Tide teammate Jihaad Campbell. That kind of familiarity gives the Eagles at least one rookie pairing that already knows how the other moves.
Sirianni Points to Recent Success
Nick Sirianni said the team has been able to get undrafted players onto the roster in recent years, naming Josh Jobe, Reed Blankenship, Jack Stoll and Eli Ricks as examples. He also said, “Howie does a great job of finding guys who have talent in their body that can be able to develop.”
He added, “I think that you’ve seen it every year that we’ve been here, we’ve been able to have guys that are undrafted free agents that make it, whether that’s Josh Jobe or Reed Blankenship or Jack Stoll... Eli Ricks. A bunch of guys that have made the this team. So it’s exciting to see the first steps of who’s going to emerge from that group.” The Eagles signed seven undrafted free agents in 2024 and 11 in 2022, when Reed Blankenship headlined the class.
Saturday brought more bodies into the building, with rookie minicamp continuing and tryouts including Elijah Mitchell, Khalil Herbert, Michael Jordan, Luke Akers and Kajiya Hollawayne. For an undrafted class this small, the opening is clear: one or two strong practices can move a rookie from the fringe into the conversation fast.
