Pbc Boxing targets Lamont Roach Jnr vs. William Zepeda summer card
Pbc boxing is targeting a summer card headlined by Lamont Roach Jnr against William Zepeda, with the show expected perhaps as soon as June. The matchup would bring together the WBC’s top two contenders, and the winner would be lined up for the vacant title.
Roach And Zepeda Move First
Roach enters at 25-1-3 with 10 knockouts. He is coming off consecutive disputed draws against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz, which keeps the unbeaten conversation around him alive but also leaves him with more unfinished business than a normal headliner.
Zepeda brings 33-1 and 27 knockouts into the conversation. His first loss came in July against Shakur Stevenson, and that setback did not remove him from the title picture; it simply tightened the margin for error in a division where the top names are still being sorted.
PBC’s Summer Plans
Premier Boxing Champions is also building around Gervonta Davis’ return, aiming for him to be back by the early fall. Davis is 30-0-1 with 28 knockouts, and his next bout would come after the WBA lightweight title fight draw against Roach at Barclays Center in New York.
That draw still hangs over this part of the schedule. Referee Steve Willis deprived Roach of a knockdown and victory in that fight, and the result left PBC with a rematch-shaped problem around one of its biggest names even as it pushes the Roach-Zepeda matchup forward.
Davis, Spence And Benavidez
Oscar De La Hoya proposed Floyd Schofield for a Davis bout on Friday, but an official connected to the PBC situation said Isaac Cruz is the most likely opponent at this hour. Cruz is the WBC interim 140-pound champion, owns a 28-3-2 record with 18 knockouts, and lost a tightly contested unanimous decision to Davis in 2021 in Los Angeles as a replacement opponent.
PBC is not waiting on one card before it moves on the rest of its calendar. Errol Spence Jnr will return from a near three-year hiatus in a July 25 Prime Video pay-per-view junior-middleweight bout against Tim Tszyu in Australia, and the promotion will stage a news conference with both fighters Saturday morning at MGM Grand. PBC is also sending David Benavidez, who is 31-0 with 25 knockouts, against Gilberto Ramirez at T-Mobile Arena.
