Trump Post-abc-ipsos Poll Results Shows 37% Approval, 62% Disapproval
Trump post-abc-ipsos poll results show Donald Trump’s approval rating fell to 37% while his disapproval rose to 62%, the highest level recorded across both of his presidential terms. The ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll also found majorities rejecting his handling of the economy, inflation, Iran, taxes and relations with U.S. allies.
Trump approval and disapproval
Trump’s approval rate slipped from 39% in February to 37% in the current survey, while his disapproval moved from 60% in February to 62%. The 62% figure marked a record high for his disapproval across both terms, and it came as the poll found two-thirds of Americans said the country was headed in the wrong direction.
For Trump, the numbers point to a split view that remains sharpest inside his own party. Fully 85% of Republicans approved of him, including 95% of MAGA Republicans, but support was less intense than before: 45% of Republicans strongly approved, down from 53% in September.
Republicans and independents
His standing was weaker outside that core group. Trump’s approval among non-MAGA Republicans was 64%, with just 13% strongly approving. Among independents, approval stood at 25%, down from 30% in October, leaving him with far less room to recover outside the Republican base.
That gap matters because the poll also found Democrats leading Republicans by 5 points in the midterm elections. The result sets up a familiar divide for Trump: strong loyalty from his most committed supporters, but softer backing among the broader electorate that will shape the midterm battlefield.
Trump on costs and taxes
The clearest drag came on pocketbook issues. Seventy-six percent of Americans disapproved of how Trump was handling the cost of living in the U.S., while 23% approved. On inflation, 72% disapproved and under 3 in 10 approved, a result that echoed February, when 65% already disapproved.
Trump also faced heavy disapproval on the economy, where 65% of Americans said they disapproved of his handling. Disapproval was 66% on Iran, 65% on relations with U.S. allies, and about 6 in 10 on taxes. Earlier this month, Trump said, "Every single American at every income level -- there's more money in their pockets this week because of the Republican tax policies," at a roundtable event touting his "no tax on tips" policy.
The polling used Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel. For Trump, the numbers show a president still anchored by his party but facing broad resistance on the issues voters usually use to judge his performance.
