Air France upgrades Premium meal service on seven-hour flights

air france upgraded the second meal service in Premium class on flights longer than seven hours, replacing the Bon Appétit snack bag that passengers previously received before landing. On overnight flights longer than 10 hours, the carrier will add hot bread to the pre-arrival service.

Premium class dining changes

The airline said Premium passengers on longhaul flights will now get salads or club sandwiches on daytime trips, and a continental breakfast with pastries, fromage frais and granola on overnight flights. The change gives travelers a fuller final meal service in a cabin Air France markets as Premium class.

Air France also said Premium customers will continue to receive Champagne, upgraded tableware, and menus designed around French culinary standards. The company said the main courses were shaped around two à la carte dishes that are regularly updated, including a vegetarian option.

Frédéric Simonin and Servair

For the main course, Air France said it entrusted the dishes to the French chef Frédéric Simonin, who worked with Servair to design them. The airline said the recipes prioritize fresh, local and seasonal produce, with meat, poultry, dairy and eggs sourced from France and fish sourced from sustainable or French fisheries.

Simonin created two à la carte hot dishes for Air France Premium main courses. The meals are still served on economy-class type disposable casserole dishes, leaving the cabin’s upgraded food concept tied to a service vessel that has not changed.

Air France Premium service

The update lands in a cabin the airline treats as one of its long-haul selling points, and it narrows a gap Air France had in premium economy dining before this change. For passengers booked in Premium on flights longer than seven hours, the practical shift is simple: the old snack bag is out, and a more complete second meal is in.
