Volunteers Still Needed Before May 4 Lincoln Marathon

Hundreds of volunteers were still needed before the lincoln marathon on May 4, 2025, and the gap came just as runners and half-marathon entrants were set to take over Lincoln’s streets. The 48th Annual Lincoln Marathon drew race-day attention, but the staffing need stayed front and center before the start.

Lincoln Marathon on Vine Street

Runners started the 48th Annual Lincoln Marathon on May 4, 2025, on Vine Street in Lincoln. Jackson Caldwell finished first on Sunday with a time of 2:22.01, giving the race a clear winner once the field was underway.

Half-Marathon Support on T Street

On T Street, Amy Goodburn, Sheri Roberts and Grace Pemberton supported half-marathon runners as they entered the final mile. Goodburn was waiting to cheer on her son, Ethan, who was completing his first half marathon, while medics and volunteers assisted an exhausted runner after his completion of the marathon on Stadium Drive.

The volunteer shortage mattered because race day depended on the people handling support along the course and at the finish. With hundreds still needed before the event, organizers were left trying to close that gap before the marathon and half-marathon got rolling in Lincoln.
