Casemiro Leads Mufc With 44% Vote in April

Casemiro won mufc's Player of the Month award for April after collecting 44 per cent of the vote from supporters. His month included a goal against Brentford, a header against Leeds United and a midfield role in the win at Chelsea.

Casemiro and April's vote

The midfielder finished ahead of Bruno Fernandes, who took 38 per cent, and Kobbie Mainoo, who received 19 per cent. Supporters voted on ManUtd.com and in the United App, and Casemiro's two-goal month carried enough weight to top the poll.

His header against Leeds came after Fernandes supplied the assist, but United lost that match at Old Trafford in the first of their three April fixtures. Casemiro then anchored midfield alongside Mainoo away to Chelsea, and United won at Stamford Bridge.

Brentford header stands out

Against Brentford, Casemiro opened the scoring with a powerful header and added the sort of defensive work, experience and game management that kept United in control. Sixteen of his 26 United goals have come from headers, a striking share for a midfielder whose aerial threat kept showing up again in April.

The vote also put Matheus Cunha in the frame for a second award after his effort against Chelsea won the club's other monthly prize. Cunha's strike beat Benjamin Sesko's goal for Brentford and Casemiro's two-goal return in the separate fan poll.

Summer departure looms

For Casemiro, the April award lands in the middle of a run described as terrific form and an impact that has kept building before his expected summer departure. United got three different April results from three league fixtures, but his finishing and control made the month belong to him.
