Falakeyah backed to 11-4 for Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket — 1000 Guineas 2026
Falakeyah was backed into 11-4 from 100-30 before the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket, where the 1000 guineas 2026 market moved late and decisively. Owen Burrows’ filly headed the betting for the race that starts at 3.35pm BST, with a heavy layer of support arriving before the off.
Falakeyah Leads Newmarket Market
The price cut told the story. Falakeyah moved ahead of Cathedral and Survie, who were both 9-2 shots, in a Dahlia Stakes market that was seven to one bar the three. For a race with one of the biggest fields for this century, the shift gave her a clear edge at the top of the betting.
Burrows’ filly had already built a profile at Newmarket. She won the Pretty Polly Stakes there last season, then returned in early April and finished second behind Jancis in the Prix Imprudence. Jancis did that at 18-1, a result that left Falakeyah with form to build on rather than a victory to defend.
Jancis And True Love
The Prix Imprudence added a sharp edge to the race. Jancis was steered to that win by Sean Levey, and the winner was described as a “grosse surprise” by Andre Fabre. That result fed into the Dahlia Stakes picture because it showed the market how quickly the shape of the fillies’ form can change.
True Love also sat among the names drawing attention on the Newmarket card. Aidan O’Brien’s filly won the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket in September, then reappeared in the Group Three Priory Belle Stakes at Leopardstown last month and returned to winning form. Those results kept the Dahlia Stakes conversation focused on proven class as well as recent market money.
Newmarket Betting Moves
The support for Falakeyah did not happen in isolation. There were three non-runners for the second race on the card, and in the stayers’ handicap Nicky Henderson’s Goblet Of Fire was backed to around 9-2 from an opening 8-1. Many Men remained the narrow favourite for that race, which was next on the Newmarket card.
For the Dahlia Stakes itself, the late move was the clearest signal in the market. Falakeyah went from a 100-30 chance to the filly carrying the strongest support, while Cathedral and Survie stayed within reach at 9-2. That left the race shaped around one market leader and two immediate pursuers, with the betting tightening before the 3.35pm BST start.
