Mohammad Ali Fined 10 Percent After PSL 11 Breach
Mohammad Ali was fined 10 percent of his match fee after a Level 1 breach of the PSL 11 Code of Conduct during Eliminator 2. The Pakistan Cricket Board said he pleaded guilty, and match referee Roshan Mahnama imposed the sanction without a formal hearing.
Ali’s Altercation With Chapman
The incident came in the 16th over of Islamabad United’s innings, when Ali had a heated verbal altercation with Mark Chapman. On-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Shahid Saikat stepped in to separate the two players.
The charge fell under Article 2.21 of the PSL Code of Conduct, the provision for conduct that brings the game into disrepute. That put the case in the category of a Level 1 offense, with the fine set at 10 percent of his match fee.
Roshan Mahnama’s Sanction
Roshan Mahnama upheld the charge and applied the punishment after Ali accepted the offense. That left the matter closed at the disciplinary level, with no hearing needed because the plea was guilty.
The sanction landed on a 33-year-old bowler who has been one of Hyderabad Kingsmen’s most reliable performers in PSL 11. Ali has taken 17 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 20.05, placing him third on the tournament’s wicket-takers list.
Hyderabad Kingsmen In PSL 11
Sufiyan Muqeem of Peshawar Zalmi leads that list with 21 wickets in one fewer match. Hyderabad Kingsmen have already reached the final in their debut PSL campaign, and Ali’s numbers have been central to that run even as the disciplinary case trimmed his match fee.
The fine is a straightforward penalty, but it also closes a complaint that began in a knockout match and ended with a guilty plea, a referee ruling, and a reminder that even a leading wicket-taker can be sanctioned in the middle of a playoff push.
