James Marsden Returns as Cyclops With Fourth Suit Reveal
Marvel Studios has revealed a fourth costume iteration for Scott Summers, and james marsden is set to return as Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday. The new look arrives after more than a decade away from the ruby-visored X-Man, giving the character a cleaner visual reset before the next team-up film.
Scott Summers in Wasteland
The design is tied to the Wasteland suit Scott Summers will wear in X-Men '97 Season 2, which is now up for pre-order as a Funko Pop! Target Exclusive Marvel Animation X-Men '97 Cyclops Wasteland Bobblehead #1596. The figure shows the suit’s large white X across the chest and white stripes running down each pant leg, a sharper take than the earlier animated looks.
That detail matters because the costume is not arriving in a vacuum. Cyclops has had a stronger spotlight since X-Men '97 Season 1 put his leadership front and center, and the show’s second season is supposed to release this summer on Disney+.
New York Comic-Con Tease
The Wasteland suit was teased in October of 2025 during the first trailer’s debut at New York Comic-Con, which set up the character’s next animated chapter before the full reveal of this figure. Jean Grey’s X-Men '97 Season 2 costume was also revealed through her own Funko Pop! figure, keeping the rollout tightly focused on the series’ core X-Men lineup.
Season 1 left Cyclops and Jean Grey stranded in 3960 AD, so this costume reveal does more than give collectors a new sculpt to pre-order. It also tells viewers that Marvel is still using merchandise to map out the visual identity of both the animated series and Marsden’s return to the role in Avengers: Doomsday, where the character is heading back onto a much bigger stage.
