Gregorio de Leo Takes One-Shot Antalya Penalty on 11th Hole — Dp World Tour Antalya Penalty

Gregorio de Leo was hit with a one-shot dp world tour antalya penalty in the final round of the Turkish Airlines Open after taking too long on the 11th hole. The Italian was one shot from the lead when the ruling came at National Golf Club in Antalya, turning a pace-of-play breach into a direct factor in the finish.

De Leo on the 11th

De Leo exceeded the permitted shot time on the 168-yard par-3 11th while his group was being monitored. A Tour spokesperson said he went more than an additional 30 seconds beyond the allowed time for the stroke, which brought the one stroke penalty under the DP World Tour Pace of Play Policy.

He made an up-and-down from just short of the green before being told of the penalty. That sequence left him chasing the leaders rather than pressing from level terms, and the issue landed at the exact point in the round when the final few holes were shaping the result.

Final-round pressure in Antalya

De Leo had entered the back nine on Sunday in the hunt for his first victory, and the pace ruling came with the pressure at its highest. He birdied the following par-5 after the penalty, then dropped shots at the 15th and 17th holes.

That stretch closed the gap on his comeback attempt and kept him from turning the round into a late charge. He had earned his DP World Tour card at Q School last year, and this run at National Golf Club showed how quickly a single penalty can change the shape of a contender’s Sunday.

Lindberg closes with 69

Mikael Lindberg won the Turkish Airlines Open by two strokes over Daniel Rodrigues and Guido Migliozzi after a final-round 69. The 26-year-old earned $467,500 for the win.

“I felt dizzy and I felt like I want to throw up” Lindberg said after the round. He also said, “It’s been mentally pretty tough the whole week so it’s very nice to pull it off.”

“It’s a dream come true really. I’ve been dreaming about this for so many years.” Lindberg said after sealing the title, and the victory also sent him to the PGA Championship at Aronimink after he topped the circuit's Asian Swing.
