Denver venues line up May The Fourth events for May 2-3

Denver is getting a head start on may the fourth. Several venues across the area have scheduled Star Wars Day events on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3, giving fans more than one place to celebrate before May 4 arrives.

Edgewater Library Starts May 2

Star Wars Celebration at Edgewater Library runs Saturday, May 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1800 Harlan Street in Edgewater. Members of the 501st Legion will be there, and the library says kids can dress as their favorite Star Wars character, enjoy treats and crafts, and have galactic fun.

That event gives families an afternoon option before the weekend starts to fill up. It also keeps the celebration close to home for readers who want a free, kid-friendly stop without waiting until May 4 itself.

Fiction Beer Company on Colfax

Fiction Beer Company has the longest run of the weekend: Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. through Sunday, May 3 at midnight at 7101 East Colfax Avenue. The brewery is releasing a new black IPA called Maltering the Deal, along with limited edition glassware featuring the Cantina band, Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes.

The glassware goes on sale at noon Saturday while supplies last. Flash-tattoos from Silverback Studios and snacks from Sam’s Crumb Cart are part of the event, which turns a one-night idea into an all-weekend draw for anyone planning to move from one stop to the next.

Westminster 5K and Golden Library

The May the Fourth Be With You 5K starts Sunday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at Frolic Brewing, 12910 Zuni Street, Westminster, and it begins and ends at Frolic Brewing Company. A free local craft brew waits at the finish line, and runners wearing Jedi or dark-side attire can win extra beer and prizes during post-race festivities all day Sunday.

May the Fourth be With You…a Day Early follows from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Golden Library, 1019 10th Street. Put together, the four events spread the holiday across Edgewater, Denver, Westminster, and Golden, so readers do not have to pick one version of Star Wars Day and miss the rest.
