Farnham Town Fc Host Gloucester City For Play-off Final
farnham town fc host Gloucester City in the Southern League Premier South play-off final on Monday, May 4, and the prize is a place in next season’s National League South. A win would also seal a third successive promotion. The Memorial Ground sold out in under 13 hours.
Hugo Sets the Tone
Harry Hugo told supporters to treat it as the kind of day that does not come around often. He wrote, "This is the kind of occasion I dreamed of being a part of when I first got involved with the club four years ago," ahead of the 3pm kick-off at The Memorial Ground.
He also urged the crowd to stay patient and back the staff and volunteers, saying, "Now, for those who will be with us. All I ask is you work with us. It’ll be busy, there may be queues, but show patience and treat our staff and volunteers with respect."
Farnham Town’s Rapid Rise
The final sits on top of a run that has carried Farnham Town from the Combined Counties Premier Division South in 2023-24, when they went unbeaten, to the Isthmian League South Central Division title in 2024-25. This season they finished second in the Southern League Premier South with 84 points in their first season at Step 3 football.
They also beat Berkhamsted 2-1 in the play-off semi-final. Earlier in the campaign, Farnham drew 3-3 at home to Gloucester City and won the reverse fixture 2-1, so the matchup brings together two sides that have already traded blows.
The Memorial Ground Demand
The ticket rush told its own story. The final sold out in under 13 hours, and Hugo said the demand was so strong that some supporters would miss out on the ground but could still follow along online if they can.
He framed the day as a milestone for the club and the area, saying it was "the hottest ticket in town" and that more than 2,000 people through the gates would be a long way from when the club would have been pleased with 200. That is the backdrop for a final that can turn a breakthrough season into a promotion and another step into National League South.
