Wu Yize Holds 13-12 Lead in World Championship Final — Latest Snooker Scores
Wu Yize leads Shaun Murphy 13-12 in the latest snooker scores from the World Championship final after Monday afternoon at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. The 22-year-old starts the concluding session with a one-frame cushion in a best-of-35 match, and that gap has not been this tight at the final stage since 2014.
Crucible Theatre pressure
Murphy dragged the match back with the first five frames of the session. His surge included breaks of 76, 52, 59 and 60, turning an overnight 10-7 deficit into a live contest before Wu stopped the run in the 23rd frame.
That reply came with a break of 64 after Murphy left a red over the right corner. Wu then levelled the match with a contribution of 46, a useful reset after the early damage and the point where Murphy’s momentum finally met resistance.
Wu Yize response
The final frame of the session decided the immediate edge again. Wu put together runs of 60 and 61 to reclaim the lead and carry a 13-12 advantage into the last session at 19:00 BST.
Wu is chasing a place in the record books as the second youngest Crucible champion, while Murphy, who won the title in 2005, is pursuing a second crown more than two decades after his first. The only recent final to reach this stage with a single-frame margin came in 2014, when Mark Selby beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 18-14.
Mark Selby 2014
That 2014 final is the last reference point for a decider this tight going into the closing session. This one now resumes with Wu holding the slimmest of leads and Murphy still close enough to force one more swing in Sheffield.
