Monic Néron takes over ICI Première’s 3 p.m. slot August 17
Monic Néron is moving into ICI Première’s weekday afternoon return-home slot, and the change starts on August 17. The radio host and journalist will replace Annie Desrochers from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Radio-Canada announced the move on April 13. Néron said the offer landed fast: “Lorsque ma patronne m’a appelée pour me demander si j’étais intéressée à occuper la case de 15h à 18h, je ne m’attendais pas du tout à ça.”
ICI Première’s 15h à 18h shift
Néron currently hosts Mimosa ! on Saturday mornings from 7h à 11h on ICI Première, so the new assignment moves her from a weekend schedule into one of the station’s more visible weekday blocks. She said, “Je me sens prête à animer une quotidienne en semaine.”
The move also changes the rhythm of her workweek. Néron said she has been doing radio since she was 16 years old, and she spent six years on weekday morning radio with Paul Arcand at 98.5 FM, a stretch that gives her a track record in live daily programming before this new afternoon run.
Tom and Bruno Marchand
The family trade-off is immediate. Néron said her son Tom is in shared custody and will soon be seven years old, and she added, “Je serai toutefois présente les matins et les fins de semaine pour passer du temps de qualité avec lui.”
That schedule also fits her relationship with Québec Mayor Bruno Marchand, with whom she has been in a relationship for nearly a year. “En récupérant mes fins de semaine, j’aurai l’occasion de partir pour Québec le vendredi soir et de revenir le lundi matin,” she said.
August 17 on ICI Première
For listeners, the practical change is simple: the weekday afternoon slot changes hands in mid-August, and Néron is making the move while keeping her weekends largely intact. For Néron, that balance is the point — a bigger weekday role on ICI Première without giving up the weekend time she needs for Tom and her trips to Québec.
