Dybala and Kone Return For Roma Vs Fiorentina, Gasperini Says
Paulo Dybala and Manu Kone are available again for roma vs fiorentina, giving Roma two key options back for Monday evening. Gian Piero Gasperini said both players recovered in time, and Roma enter the match in sixth place with a Champions League place still within reach.
Gasperini’s Sunday update
Gasperini gave the update in a pre-match press conference on Sunday ahead of the Fiorentina game. He said, "Kone has recovered, Dybala had already recovered. This week has gone better. They’re available," a clear boost for a squad that has been asked to stay in the race through the final stretch.
He also backed the group around them, saying, "The squad has been special, I thank them" and "We’re fully focused on that since we’re still in the race." Roma still have four matches left in the 2025-26 season, so every available player matters in a tight finish.
Roma’s place in the table
Roma were sixth before kick-off and could move clear of Como, who were one point ahead and had played one more match. Juventus sat in fourth place, three points ahead of Roma, and had played the same number of matches. That leaves a narrow path for the chase, with little margin for dropped points.
Fiorentina bring their own form into the match. They were unbeaten across their last seven Serie A matches, which makes Roma’s task more demanding even with Dybala and Kone back in contention.
Four games left for Roma
Gasperini did not frame the conversation only around one match. He said, "There are two tracks: The current season, which is still alive and tomorrow we’ll play against a Fiorentina side that is coming in off the back of a lot of positive results."
He also pointed to the months ahead, saying, "The presence of the ownership is a signal," while adding, "The team’s behaviour has been excellent, we will try to kick on in these four games." For Roma, the immediate job is simple: use the return of Dybala and Kone to keep pressure on the teams above them and stay in the Champions League race.
