Tanah Boyd Warriors Contract Negotiations Open With Multi-Year Push
The tanah boyd warriors contract negotiations have started, with the New Zealand club moving on a multi-year extension for the halfback. The talks are designed to keep Boyd at the Warriors and away from clubs entering the competition in 2027 and 2028.
Boyd And The Warriors
Boyd is off contract, and the extension would put him beyond the reach of the Perth Bears, who enter the competition in 2027, and the PNG Chiefs, who arrive in 2028. For a 19-year-old halfback, that is the first real line in the sand: stay with the Warriors, or become part of the market other clubs are preparing to attack.
The negotiations also sit inside a wider halves picture at the Warriors. If an agreement gets done, it would add uncertainty around Chanel Harris-Tavita and Te Maire Martin, who both remain uncontracted for the 2027 season.
Harris-Tavita And Martin
Harris-Tavita has already been linked to the North Queensland Cowboys, and he was spotted in a meeting with coach Todd Payten. Andrew Webster kept the club's stance tight, saying, "That's a private conversation we'd have with Chanel."
Webster also said, "We love him and we don't want him to leave, but we'll see how it continues to play out." He added, "I obviously knew he's off contract. He's been off contract since 1 November, so I know it's a busy period for every player off contract."
That leaves the Warriors trying to shape their halfback future before outside clubs get even more time to circle. Webster said, "Chanel and I are in dialogue around it," and, "Communication's been good, I'll say that, but I don't know the ins and outs of it from an external point of view."
