Raven Johnson Praises Lisa Salters as Stephanie White Watches Practice

Raven Johnson turned Monday’s practice into a quick spotlight on stephanie white when the Indiana Fever rookie talked about White’s wife, Lisa Salters. Johnson said Salters came to practice and left an impression, while White was also dealing with Monique Billings’ ankle tweak in the same session.

“Oh, she’s funny,” Johnson said. “Don’t tell her this, but her wife came to practice the other day, and I was like, ‘Dang! You got some taste! Her wife is beautiful.’”

Raven Johnson on White

Johnson’s comments came with a tone of admiration for White, whom she called “a great coach and a great person to go to.” She said White “teaches me a lot of things” and “gets on me,” giving a rare glimpse into the rookie guard’s day-to-day relationship with the head coach during the Fever’s preseason work.

The comments also added a personal layer to a practice day that otherwise carried roster business. Johnson was drafted in the first round of the 2026 WNBA draft out of the University of South Carolina, and she is already speaking publicly about the coach who will shape her role as the Fever move toward the start of the season.

Monique Billings’ ankle tweak

White was fielding questions about Billings at the same practice. The forward tweaked her ankle after landing on an opponent’s foot under the basket in the first quarter, and White said, “We have an opportunity, as with most ankle tweaks, to reevaluate tomorrow and see where she is.”

That injury note matters because the Fever are already moving through preseason preparation with the opener close by. The team starts its season on May 10 against the Dallas Wings, a game described as a showcase of the league’s last four first overall picks.

For the Fever, Monday brought both a light moment and a practical one: Johnson publicly praised White’s wife, while White managed an injury update on Billings. The same practice session gave the clearest picture yet of how the rookie guard and head coach are interacting, and it left Billings headed for another look before the season opener arrives.
