Casemiro Heads for Manchester United Exit After 9-Goal Revival — Man U News

man u news: Casemiro will leave Manchester United after the current campaign, even after a season that restored his standing. The 34-year-old has turned a January departure announcement into a strong finish, with his role back at the center of Ruben Amorim’s side.

Casemiro And Ruben Amorim

Casemiro has scored nine goals and added two assists this season, while logging 2,417 minutes in 31 starts from 32 appearances. He has finished 13 games, including seven of the past nine, after being left out of league lineups earlier in the campaign.

Amorim said, “I’m learning how to use players like Casemiro.” He also said: “In the beginning he was behind every midfielder, even Toby [Collyer], but he fought and he worked, and now he is back in the national team.”

January 2025 To February

United announced in January that Casemiro would depart at the end of the current campaign, and supporters pleaded with him to stay after that call. In that same month he was an unused substitute in five league matches against Liverpool, Arsenal, Southampton, Brighton and Fulham, with Toby Collyer preferred in those games.

February changed the picture. Amorim gave him league starts at Tottenham and away to Everton, and Casemiro also started both legs of the Europa League last-16 win over Real Sociedad, both legs of the quarter-final win over Lyon, the semi-final victory over Athletic Bilbao and the final loss to Tottenham.

Ratcliffe And Carragher

The turnaround has come after a harder judgment on his future. United were open to selling him when Erik ten Hag was in charge, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe cited Casemiro as an example of questionable recruitment in October 2024.

Jamie Carragher had taken the sharpest swipe in May 2024, when he told Casemiro, “Leave the football before the football leaves you.” He later changed that view in February, saying: “It is now fair to say the football has not left him, considering what he’s producing this season in the Premier League.”

Casemiro is now back as a midfield first choice for Brazil in the buildup to a World Cup, and his rise has been helped by improved fitness and a United side that is more on the front foot under Michael Carrick in the explanation of his form. He will leave Old Trafford after the current campaign, with a 4-year contract and wages close to £365,000 a week now part of a move that ends with his value rechecked rather than discarded.
