Eric Kripke Drives The Boys Season 5 Series Finale Into 4DX

The Boys season 5 series finale will screen in 4DX cinemas on Tuesday 19 May at 9:30 p.m. The last episode will also stream at home, giving viewers two ways to catch the end of the series. The 4DX booking pushes a TV finale into a format usually reserved for theatrical event titles.

Tuesday 19 May at 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday afternoon, the show’s official social accounts said, "In two weeks, we’re going out with a bang. Literally, because ya might vibrate watchin’ the series finale in 4DX." They also told viewers, "Get yer mitts on a seat with the purchase of a concession voucher, which is good towards sweets or soda the day of."

4DX adds wind, rain, mist and smells, while seats move with what is happening on screen. That gives the finale a theatrical wrapper that is more aggressive than a standard TV premiere, and it is the kind of booking that makes a season end feel like an event ticket rather than a routine streaming drop.

Eric Kripke and Gen V

Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said they are committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys season five and other VCU projects on the horizon. Last month, Prime Video cancelled Gen V after two seasons, so the franchise is already using its main series to carry characters forward instead of leaving that spinoff as the endpoint.

HuffPost UK contacted The Boys for clarification on whether the cinematic release would also take place in the UK. For viewers who want the 4DX version, the practical move is simple: the cinema seat is tied to a concession voucher, while the same finale remains available to stream at home on Tuesday 19 May at 9:30 p.m.
