Elgin City Manager Allan Hale Suspended Immediately Pending Investigation

Elgin City suspended elgin city manager Allan Hale from his duties with immediate effect while an ongoing investigation continues. The club said it will make no further comment until that process ends, leaving the first-team role vacant as the inquiry runs its course.

Allan Hale and Elgin City

The club posted the announcement on X, using a statement that said: "Elgin City Football Club can confirm that the 1st team manager has been suspended from his duties with immediate effect, pending an ongoing investigation." It added: "The club will make no further comment until the investigation has concluded."

Hale is 39 and was appointed on December 5, 2023, alongside assistant Stefan Laird. Since then, he has led Elgin City to a sixth-place finish in the Scottish League 2 table, making the suspension a sudden change at a time when the club had already been shaping its next season’s squad.

Elgin City Squad Changes

Days before the suspension, Elgin City persuaded players such as Miko Virtanen and Brian Cameron to sign contract extensions. Yesterday, the club also said six players would leave at the end of their contracts and four others would return from loan spells to their parent clubs.

The club said it had 18 players under contract for next season. That leaves Hale’s suspension against a backdrop of a squad that was already in motion, with retained players, departures and loan returns all being dealt with while the investigation remains open.

Stefan Laird and Next Steps

Hale had previously managed Huntly and Keith and holds a UEFA A licence. For now, Elgin City has tied any further explanation to the end of the investigation, and the practical consequence is straightforward: the club is without its first-team manager until it chooses to speak again.
