Gary Sinise Foundation R.I.S.E. reaches 86th home in Four Oaks
gary sinise and the National Wood Flooring Association marked the 86th home completed through the Gary Sinise Foundation R.I.S.E. program on March 5 in Four Oaks, North Carolina. The dedication went to retired U.S. Army Sgt. Mary Dague, whose home now carries a floor donated by NWFA member Peachey Hardwood.
Dague chose to serve after witnessing the events of 9/11. In 2007, while deployed in Iraq, she and her team responded to an IED placed between a school and an apartment building, and the blast cost her both arms. She has also battled breast cancer.
Peachey Hardwood and NWFA
The flooring came from Peachey Hardwood, one of the NWFA members contributing to the build. Stephanie Owen said the association is honored to work with Peachey Hardwood to provide real wood floors for Dague’s new home, and she added: "In addition to losing both her arms in service to our country, Sergeant Dague also has battled breast cancer". Owen also said: "Despite these setbacks, she continues to inspire others with her positive attitude and fighting spirit. We’re honored to partner with Peachey Hardwood to provide beautiful real wood floors for her new home."
That kind of donation is the operational side of the story. NWFA members are not just supplying material; they are supplying product, logistics and installation services across the United States, which is how the program keeps moving from one home to the next instead of stopping at a ceremony.
86 homes and 13 more
The 86-home milestone gives the program scale. NWFA is also working with members on 13 additional homes in various stages of planning and construction, so the March 5 dedication was both a finished house and part of a larger pipeline already underway.
Those contributions now involve 163 NWFA member companies and exceed $7 million in value. For readers tracking how the R.I.S.E. program operates, that means the effort is being carried by a national network rather than a one-off donation drive, and Mary Dague’s home is one result of that system working on schedule.
