Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Sends 22 Appliances to Rutherglen Fire

More than 100 firefighters were sent to a rutherglen fire at the Nisa store on Baronald Street after emergency services were called around 6.40pm on Thursday evening. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 22 appliances and additional specialist resources to the commercial building in South Lanarkshire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was first alerted at 6:19pm on Thursday, May 7, to reports of a building fire. By around 6.40pm, crews were at the Nisa store on Baronald Street, and the scale of the response had grown to more than 100 firefighters.

The incident drew 22 fire appliances to the scene. The fire was affecting a commercial building, and the response included additional specialist resources from the service.

Road Closures In Rutherglen

Road closures were put in place while crews tackled the fire. Baronald Street was closed alongside Dalmarnock Road and Farmeloan, limiting access around the area as firefighters worked at the scene.
