Epic Games Warns Thousands Fortnite Reports as Is Fortnite Down
Epic Games said some players may not be able to log into or matchmake in Fortnite, and thousands of reports suggest is fortnite down for many users right now.
The company said it is working on a fix. That leaves players waiting on the one thing that matters most during an outage: whether they can get back into a match at all.
Epic Games and thousands of reports
Epic Games wrote, “We're aware that players may not be able to log into or matchmake in Fortnite,” and added, “We'll provide an update when we have one.”
Down Detector has received thousands of reports that Fortnite is not working. Its outage map shows problems in the UK and Europe, while the vast majority of reports are coming from the US.
Fortnite players hit after Item Shop update
The server issues began moments after the latest Item Shop update. That update put Mortal Kombat skins back on sale, which gives the timing an odd edge: a fresh store refresh was followed almost immediately by login and matchmaking trouble.
Epic also gave Lois Griffin, Peggy Hill and Linda Belcher a May 8 release date in Fortnite. The new skins can be purchased when the Item Shop updates at 5pm PT / 8pm ET on May 8.
UK and Europe timing
UK fans will be able to purchase the bundle at 1am BST on May 9, which is 2am CET in Europe.
For now, the practical step for affected players is simple: if Fortnite will not log in or find a match, the company has already acknowledged the problem and said it will post another update when it has one.
