Thurrock Council All 49 Seats Contested in 2026 Election
All 49 seats on Thurrock Council were up for election in the thurrock council local elections in Thurrock, Essex. Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 7, and the count took place on Friday, May 8.

Thurrock Council Seats
The contest covered every seat on the council, with two seats in Chafford Hundred East, Chafford Hundred West, East Tilbury, Linford & West Tilbury, Little Thurrock Blackshots, Little Thurrock Rectory, Orsett, Horndon & Bulphan, Purfleet-on-Thames, Stifford, Tilbury Riverside, Tilbury St Chads and West Thurrock & South Stifford.
Three seats were up in Aveley, Belhus, Chadwell St Mary, Corringham & Fobbing, Grays Riverside, Grays Town, Ockendon, Stanford-le-Hope South and The Homesteads & Stanford-le-Hope North. That left no ward untouched in a contest that had not been held on this all-out basis since 2004.
Labour's 26 Seats
Before polling day, Labour held 26 seats on Thurrock Council. The wider election day covered more than 5,000 council seats across 136 local authorities in England, alongside mayoral elections in six areas.
