Ontario Welcomes Uber Canada to Ontario Corps

Ontario is expanding ontario corps by adding Uber Canada as a new partner. The company will help move people and supplies during emergencies and natural disasters, giving the province another transportation option when local response plans need to move quickly.

Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response Jill Dunlop said, "We are thrilled to welcome Uber into our Ontario Corps network to expand our emergency transportation resources to ensure our communities receive help quickly and efficiently," and added, "When time is of the essence, delivering life-saving supplies across Ontario can make all the difference during emergencies."

Uber Canada will provide transportation to evacuation and reception centres, medical centres and other critical destinations wherever it operates in Ontario. It can also offer vouchers to community members and first responders for free or discounted rides, deliver meals and hygiene products, move donated goods between warehouses and donation centres, and help coordinate large shipments of relief supplies to communities in need.

Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said, "Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is making historic investments in transportation infrastructure to keep people and goods moving safely across Ontario. When emergencies happen, communities need transportation options they can count on. Welcoming Uber Canada to Ontario Corps will help move evacuees, first responders and essential supplies quickly and safely when it matters most."

Ontario Corps Response

Ontario Corps can be mobilized within 24 to 72 hours and deploys personnel, debris removal tools and machinery, supplies, flood barriers and drones. The network has already been used during the 2025 ice storm, the 2025 wildland fire response and the 2026 spring flooding, when partners and volunteers helped fill and place sandbags, support an evacuation centre and provide mental health supports.

Ontario also encourages people of all skill levels and professional backgrounds to volunteer for Ontario Corps, with training and matching based on skill level, interests and availability. The province says a new Emergency Preparedness and Response Headquarters will serve as the future home of Ontario Corps and operate as a 24/7, year-round emergency command centre.
