Rainford, De Leon eye WSR repeat at Brands Hatch Btcc
WSR returns to Brands Hatch for btcc on 9/10 May after winning all three races there in 2025. That sweep came on the 1.2-mile Indy layout, where the team scored pole position, took every race victory and broke the series’ all-time wins record for teams.
Rainford Faces Boost Limits
Charles Rainford arrives second in the championship after a Donington Park opener that brought a podium in race one and 43 points across the event. His BMW will be one of the most heavily restricted cars through Saturday’s sessions and Race 1 on Sunday, with less use of the TOCA Turbo Boost function than all but one other rival under series regulations.
Rainford said that going back to Brands Hatch means going back to the best memories of his racing career. He also pointed to the BMW’s pace at the circuit and said warm weather could help if it continues through the weekend.
De Leon Returns With Full Boost
Daryl De Leon comes to the same track with a cleaner hand. His BMW has the full TOCA Turbo Boost allocation for Saturday’s action and Sunday’s opening race, and he said the car was strong on the newly-resurfaced track last year before it rubbed in over 12 months.
De Leon took his first win at Brands Hatch in 2025, along with pole position and the Jack Sears Trophy crown at the season-closing weekend on the Grand Prix layout. He said the team judged that race to perfection and believes the slow corners at Druids and Clearways can still play to BMW traction.
WSR’s Record At Brands Hatch
The 2025 Brands Hatch Indy event was one of the most successful weekends in WSR’s 30-year BTCC history. Rainford and De Leon each scored their maiden series win there, and WSR’s total now stands at 20 wins and 51 podiums on the Brands Hatch Indy layout.
Team principal Dick Bennetts said it is not very often that you win three races in a day in the BTCC. That is the backdrop for the May return: one driver chasing a repeat under restrictions, another arriving with maximum boost, and a team trying to turn a record weekend into a second straight result at the same circuit.
