Daniel Rochefort Avocat Montreal Faces Child Abuse Material Charge
Me Daniel Rochefort avocat montreal was arrested Thursday by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal and appeared Friday afternoon by videoconference at the Montreal courthouse. The 72-year-old lawyer is accused of producing material of child sexual abuse and exploitation after alleged facts last week in Montreal.
Marissa Maria Kazadellis, the prosecutor, opposed his release, and the case was postponed to Monday. Rochefort appeared without a lawyer and asked the judge, "On s’objecte à ma remise en liberté si je comprends bien ?"
Rochefort et Associés
Rochefort founded Rochefort et Associés in 1996 after working in large firms. His firm says he specializes in labour law, administrative law, litigation and commercial law, and he has previously defended SPVM officers in labour-related cases, including former police chief Philippe Pichet.

During the videoconference, Rochefort told the judge, "Laissez-moi lundi faire au moins ce procès-là… je peux être là mardi ou mercredi. Je suis complètement désemparé, le client attend son procès depuis cinq ou six mois". The prosecutor said new charges would be coming soon, while the alleged facts are tied to an undercover police operation in which a female SPVM officer allegedly posed as a 12-year-old girl.
Monday’s appearance will move the file forward after the Friday postponement, with Rochefort still facing the same allegation that led to his arrest. The court’s next step will determine whether the case stays on the same track or expands with the additional charges the prosecutor said were coming.
