Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan Match 400-Run IPL Record
sai sudharsan was part of a Gujarat Titans innings that carried Shubman Gill into IPL history at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Gill became the only player in the league to complete 400 runs in consecutive seasons during the Rajasthan Royals match, then reached his fourth half-century of IPL 2026 with a single in the eleventh over.
Gill Reaches 400 Again
Gill’s latest fifty came in the first innings and he raised it without a celebration, simply changing his gloves after reaching the mark. The innings pushed him past Virat Kohli in the record book and added another milestone to a season in which he has already crossed 400 runs again.
The numbers behind the innings are hard to miss. Gill reached 50 in the eleventh over, and the half-century against Rajasthan Royals was his fourth of the ongoing season. He has now scored more than 400 runs in each season since the IPL 2020 campaign, a stretch no other player in league history has matched.
Gujarat Titans At 118
Gujarat Titans’ opening stand gave the record room to grow. Gill and Sai Sudharsan added another 100-plus runs partnership at the top, and it was their sixth century stand for the opening wicket. That takes them level with the highest mark in IPL history for opening partnerships.
The company at the top also places them among the league’s most productive pairs. David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan have six opening-wicket centuries for Sunrisers Hyderabad, as do Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Gill and Sudharsan now sit on the same number for Gujarat Titans, while David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, and Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, are on five.
Rajasthan Royals eventually took Gujarat Titans’ first wicket at 118, but by then Gill had already secured the season milestone and the opening pair had already matched the league’s best. For Gujarat Titans, the result was less about a single stand than about the repeatability of a top order that keeps producing the same kind of number when the pressure is on.
