Disney Cruise Ships: Disney Adventure cancels four-night sailing in Singapore
Disney cruise ships were disrupted on May 7 when Disney Cruise Line canceled the Disney Adventure’s four-night sailing after guests had already boarded in Singapore. The captain told passengers in the afternoon that the ship had technical issues, and the sailing was called off at about 2:30 p.m. Singapore time.
Disney Cruise Line said the mechanical issue was not resolved in time for the voyage to start. The Disney Adventure remained in port in Singapore while teams continued to work on the problem, leaving passengers who had already gone through embarkation waiting on board for instructions.
Disney Adventure boards in Singapore
Guests began boarding at noon on May 7. By late afternoon, one guest was still aboard waiting for a letter with hotel information before debarking, according to a post on Reddit. The ship’s shops had not opened, so passengers could not buy Disney merchandise on board before the cancellation.
The cancellation hit a voyage scheduled to depart Singapore that evening. That made the disruption different from a simple delay: passengers had already checked in and boarded before the sailing was stopped.
Captain announces technical issues
In the afternoon, the captain told passengers that engineers were working on the problem. Disney Cruise Line later said the mechanical issue was not fixed within the required time to begin the voyage, which ended the trip before it left port.
A guest wrote that the cancellation was “really disappointing,” especially for families vacationing with kids. The comment reflected the immediate problem for travelers already aboard: they had expected to sail out of Singapore, but instead were waiting for instructions on where to go next.
Disney Cruise Line in Asia Pacific
The Disney Adventure is Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship and its flagship presence in Asia Pacific. It launched in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board, making the Singapore cancellation a setback for a ship positioned as the line’s latest international expansion.
Passengers still aboard at 6:30 p.m. were waiting for hotel information before debarking. That left travelers with one practical step left: stay on board until Disney Cruise Line handed out the details needed to leave the ship.
