Amario Cozier-duberry tallies 8 goals, 10 assists amid future talks

Amario Cozier-duberry has 8 goals and 10 assists for Bolton, and the 20-year-old says early talks with Brighton and Bolton over his future are already underway. He is keeping his focus on the play-offs for now, with Bolton starting at home to Bradford City on Saturday.

Bolton awards night for Cozier-Duberry

The winger ended the League One campaign with eight goals and ten assists after missing more than two months with a knee injury. He was then crowned players’ player of the year and young player of the year at Bolton’s awards night, and he was named in the League One team of the season.

He also narrowly missed out on the fans' player of the year accolade. That split vote fits the season he has had: productive enough to earn major recognition, but interrupted enough that the full picture came only after he got back on the pitch.

Brighton talks and Bolton focus

Cozier-Duberry said he has already spoken with both clubs about what comes next, but he does not sound ready to decide anything before the play-off run is over. “I have had conversations with Brighton and with Bolton but we will just have to wait and see what the future holds,” he said. “I’m not too sure yet. It’s still early days.”

His loan spell has also given him a stronger claim on Bolton’s side of the argument. “I owe them a lot. I have grown up quite a bit here,” he said. “The players and the staff have really helped me come out of my shell.”

Bradford City at home

Bolton’s promotion push is the next checkpoint, and Cozier-Duberry made clear where his attention sits. “It would mean a lot to me to get this club promoted,” he said. “It’s a really big club and it deserves to be in the Championship, possibly even higher, so it would be great for me to be a part of their history and get them back to that level.”

That promotion race may end up shaping his summer. A step up to the Championship could help Bolton keep him on board next term, while he is also widely expected to go back out on loan if he remains at Brighton.
