Monroe County issues AMBER Alert for 9-year-old boy, 7-year-old girl

Monroe County deputies issued an AMBER Alert for a 9-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl after investigators said they were abducted from the Fairport area on Saturday afternoon. The alert names Amar Abdullah Quasim Saleh as the suspect and says the children were last seen around 3:19 p.m. near Crossover Road.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office identified the boy as Hafiz Ali Ali and the girl as Julie Abdullah Saleh. The alert said the children were taken under circumstances that led police to believe they were in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.

Crossover Road in Fairport

Investigators said Saleh was last seen with the children in the Fairport area on Saturday around 3:19 p.m. Deputies said he is 26 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Deputies also said Saleh was wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray sweatpants, with his hair pulled into a bun. That description gives anyone who spots him a specific clothing and physical profile to watch for, not just a name.

Children's clothing descriptions

Hafiz was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants with gray stripes. Julie was last seen wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt, light yellow baggy pants and a pink headband with pig ears.

Those details may help separate the children from other people in a crowded or fast-moving setting. The clothing descriptions are the most immediate identifiers deputies released for anyone who might have seen them after the reported abduction.

White or silver sedan

Authorities said the vehicle may be a white or silver Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. The year, plate and state were not listed, leaving the make and color as the only vehicle clues in the alert.

Anyone with information was asked to call 911 or the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 585-428-6666. For people in Fairport and nearby areas, that means the fastest useful step is to report a sighting immediately rather than wait to sort out whether the details match exactly.
