Kylian Mbappé Left Out of Real Madrid Squad for El Clasico

kylian mbappé will not be in Real Madrid’s 21-man squad for Sunday night’s El Clasico against Barcelona at Camp Nou. The French forward had trained with his teammates earlier in the week after recovering from a hamstring injury, but he was left out when the squad was named.

Real Madrid’s 21-man squad

Real Madrid listed a 21-man squad for the match on social media, and Mbappe was not among them. Vinicius Jr is set to lead the forward line, with Brahim Diaz and Gonzalo Torres supporting him in attack.

Aurelien Tchouameni is among the midfielders available for the trip. He and Federico Valverde were fined 500,000 euros each after a training ground clash, a separate issue that has hovered over Madrid in the build-up to a match that already carried title stakes.

Barcelona can close the title

Barcelona go into the match with an 11-point lead over Real Madrid. A draw would be enough to seal their 29th Spanish league title with three games to spare, while a win at Camp Nou would also crown them champions.

Mbappe’s absence comes after images from Madrid’s home training session on Saturday showed him taking part in drills. That followed his return from the hamstring injury he suffered two weeks ago, and it made the omission more striking for a game with the league on the line.

He had already faced criticism from fans after going on holiday to Sardinia during his recovery process. After Madrid beat Espanyol without him, Alvaro Arbeloa said, “We didn’t build Real Madrid with players who play in tuxedos, but with players who finish matches with shirts full of sweat and mud, through effort and sacrifice,”

Camp Nou pressure

For Real Madrid, the absence removes one of the names expected to be available after Friday’s training work and Saturday’s drill session. For Barcelona, the path is simple: avoid defeat and the title is theirs, while Madrid must answer without Mbappe in one of the season’s defining fixtures.
