Yurav Premlall eyes $50,000 at Catalunya Championship

yurav premlall is part of a week in which the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship carries a $50,000 Nexo Course Record Prize, with the payout now available after five straight DP World Tour events passed without a new course record. The bonus is tied to the lowest round of the weekend, and the field at Real Club de Golf El Prat’s Pink Course has 156 players chasing it.

The prize was introduced by Nexo and the DP World Tour in 2025, and it has already produced one big return. Hennie du Plessis earned a $100,000 bonus at the Investec South African Open Championship in March after a 63, while Freddy Schott matched that score in the final round and Casey Jarvis won the title.

The Pink Course did not have an existing course record before this week’s tournament, so the target was open from the start. Preferred lies were in place for the first two days, but the lowest score of 64 did not count while that rule was in effect.

Saturday changed the picture. Once preferred lies were removed, the $50,000 prize became live for the weekend, and the player with the lowest round will take both the course record and the bonus.

Hennie du Plessis in Spain

Du Plessis adds another layer to the story because he is the player who first turned the prize into a six-figure payday. His 63 in March made him the first winner of the Course Record Presented by Nexo prize on the 2026 Race to Dubai, and that round is the benchmark everyone else is chasing for this week’s lower payout.

He also brings a complication to the event. In Spain, he opened with rounds of 72 and 73 and looked unlikely to play the weekend, which leaves the prize wide open for someone else to make the first true low round once the conditions stopped protecting earlier scores.

The money itself has changed quickly. The course-record bonus grows by $10,000 for every week that passes without a new low round, and the absence of one over the last five DP World Tour events has left this week’s figure at $50,000 rather than the larger prize that had built up earlier in the season.

$50,000 to be won! ?We are no longer playing preferred lies at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship therefore the player with the lowest round this weekend will set the new course record and will win the $50,000 Nexo Course Record Prize. #EDCC2026

That leaves a simple target for the rest of the field: post the week’s lowest round, set the course mark at Real Club de Golf El Prat, and leave Catalunya with the bonus. For everyone else in the 156-player field, the race is now against the number on the board rather than the weather rules that shaped the first two days.
