Toby Carvery Romford closes after May 10 service
Toby Carvery Romford at The Brewery Shopping Centre will permanently close after service on May 10, ending a long-running branch in the centre. The toby carvery decision was announced a fortnight before the closure date, and the site will be returned to the landlord.
A spokesperson said the company hopes to redeploy as many employees as possible to nearby businesses. The branch is part of a 40-year-old British carvery chain with over 150 branches across the UK.

The closure follows another change at the same centre. A Frankie & Benny’s branch there closed a month earlier after its lease expired, leaving Romford with another vacant restaurant unit before Toby Carvery’s final service.
The company has also shut another branch for good in St Mark’s Square in Lincoln in February. That adds a second named closure in the same chain this year, while the Romford site becomes the latest to leave a shopping-centre location.
Romford Staff Redeployment
“We can confirm the Toby Carvery at Romford will close on May 10 after service and the site will be returned to the landlord,” a spokesperson said. The spokesperson added: “This decision has been taken after careful consideration and as part of the continual review of our estate and we are in consultation with the team and hope to redeploy as many employees as possible at our other nearby businesses.”
“We’d like to thank our loyal guests and the brilliant team at Romford for their support,” the spokesperson said. For customers and staff, the practical change is immediate: service ends on May 10, and the company is now handling the move of workers to nearby branches rather than keeping the Romford site open.
