Knicks Game Today: New York Seeks Four-Game Sweep of 76ers
The knicks game today puts New York one win from a four-game sweep against the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 4. OG Anunoby will miss his second straight game because of a hamstring strain, and the Knicks are trying to finish a series sweep for the first time since 2000.
New York’s sweep chance
The Knicks have not swept an NBA playoff series since they beat the Toronto Raptors in three games in 2000. Their last best-of-seven sweep came in 1999 against the Atlanta Hawks, when New York also reached the NBA Finals for the last time.
That is the backdrop for a Game 4 in which the 76ers need a win to keep their season going. The Knicks have the chance to end the series immediately instead of returning for another playoff game, and that gives this afternoon a different weight than a routine closeout opportunity.
OG Anunoby sits again
Anunoby’s absence removes one more wing from a Knicks rotation that has already leaned on its depth. Mike Brown’s bench has become a strength, and New York has continued to lean on that group while one of its forwards remains out.
For the Knicks, the task is still clear: hold their edge without Anunoby and avoid giving Philadelphia any opening to extend the series. For the 76ers, the margin is gone, and Game 4 is the last chance to force the matchup back into their favor.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Maxey
Karl-Anthony Towns finished Game 3 with eight points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and one block in 26 minutes, though foul trouble sent him to the bench for most of the second and third quarters. Even so, the Knicks have kept Tyrese Maxey from taking over by using hard traps and blitzes around him.
Maxey still produced 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting in 44 minutes and added seven assists, which gives Philadelphia a clear threat to build around if it can get enough support elsewhere. Mikal Bridges has also bounced back after a rocky start to the postseason and is now producing at a high level in his hometown of Philadelphia, giving New York another steady option as it tries to close out the series.
