Lily James joins GLU on ‘LA’ ahead of 14th August EP

GLU has released “LA” featuring lily james, a new single that moves Michael Shuman’s solo project toward the 14th August PONY BOY EP. The track arrives as a guest-vocal feature rather than a stand-alone drop, giving the release a clearer commercial and creative signal.

Shuman’s LA return

Michael Shuman said, “Being an LA native, I have a lot of pride for this city” and added, “I’ve been on the road most of my life, but I’m always drawn back home to LA.” He also said, “Long term, it’s hard to imagine anywhere else I’d rather live.”

He described the song this way: “This song represents that nostalgic feeling of endless summer.” That framing fits the way GLU has been building its catalog since 2023, when the project launched with the MY DEMONS EP.

Lily James on the track

“LA” was originally written and recorded four years ago, then brought forward now with an airy guest vocal from Lily James. That kind of guest appearance gives the single more reach than a routine preview and keeps the focus on the EP rather than on a one-off release.

Shuman is best known as a bassist and songwriter with Queens Of The Stone Age and Mini Mansions, and GLU has spent the past two years building a reputation as a live act through headline shows and tours across the UK, Europe and the US. Earlier this year, it also supported The Blue Stones on a run of major UK dates including London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town.

PONY BOY on 14th August

The timing is deliberate. GLU has already released “LA” as the latest preview of PONY BOY, and the EP is set for release on 14th August. For listeners, that means the single is less a detour than the clearest signal yet of where the project is headed next.

The remaining value here is simple: “LA” strengthens the EP rollout by pairing Shuman’s home-city writing with a recognizable guest voice, while GLU keeps momentum through the summer stretch and into the August release window.
