Lyndon Dykes Opens Talks on New Deal at Birmingham City F.c.
Charlton Athletic have opened talks with Lyndon Dykes over a new deal after the 30-year-old striker scored three goals in 20 Championship appearances. His short-term move from birmingham city f.c. in January has led to a new decision point for a club that has already moved on several other players.
Dykes and Charlton
Dykes arrived in January and delivered a return that gave Charlton a scoring option in their first season back in the Championship. The talks now place his future alongside the club's other contract decisions rather than as a separate one-off move.
Charlton have also offered Matty Godden a new deal and triggered an option to extend Tyreece Campbell's contract until the summer of 2027. That leaves Dykes in the middle of a broader squad rebuild that has already produced both new offers and exits.
Berry and Taylor
Luke Berry and Terry Taylor were released after Charlton's first season back in the Championship. Nathan Jones thanked Berry for his contribution, saying, "We'd like to thank Bez (Luke Berry), who has been wonderful for us," and added, "We brought him here for his experience, his goalscoring and for him to be a big contributing factor in getting us out of League One and being able to play at Championship level."
He also said of Berry, "He's done exactly what we asked him and his goals were vital, as well as the way he trains and his experience."
On Taylor, Jones said, "We also wish Terry all the best." He added, "Ever since I've come in he's had an exemplary attitude and he's worked hard," before saying, "Whenever he's been called upon he's done well for Charlton." Jones also said, "His gametime was limited here and he's had a few loans and we wish him all the best," and, "He's someone that I really enjoyed working with, he worked hard every day and he has a fantastic attitude."
For Dykes, the immediate issue is whether Charlton turn a productive short spell into a longer stay. For the club, the wider picture is already visible in the mix of extensions, releases and fresh talks shaping the squad after a season back at Championship level.
