Cody Simpson cancels Baby Blue appearances after vocal cord haemorrhage

cody simpson said a serious haemorrhage on one of his vocal cords has forced him onto vocal rest and out of TV and radio promotion for his new single, Baby Blue. He said the injury surfaced after he sang through a sinus infection he did not know he had.

Simpson’s Tuesday morning update

“Hey guys. I originally thought I could keep this private but it’s come time I share what I’ve been going through,” Simpson wrote on social media Tuesday morning. He said, “Just over a month ago we discovered a serious haemorrhage on one of my vocal cords.”

He added, “It occurred due to my overzealousness in the studio singing through a sinus infection I didn’t know I had. Assumed it was just fatigue and kept showing up to the studio until one day I could no longer sing.” The comment gives the clearest timeline in the post: he kept working until his voice gave out.

Baby Blue promotion paused

Simpson said, “I’ve now been on and off vocal rest for weeks, cancelling TV and radio performances for Baby Blue in the process.” That has already slowed the rollout around the single and pushed other work off schedule, including the album he said he is trying to finish and the next singles he wants to polish.

He said, “This has also affected my ability to complete the album and polish up the next singles. I’ve just been prescribed another 2 weeks of silence in hopes of avoiding a surgery which demands a much longer recovery process.” For anyone tracking the release cycle, the practical takeaway is simple: he is still working, but not as a singer for now.

Writing on mute

Simpson said he is back in the studio “writing strictly as a lyricist on mute with my collaborators,” adding that he is hearing and writing melodies on his guitar until he can replace it with his voice. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” he wrote.

Hunter Moreno reacted to the post with, “All a part of the story, can’t wait to hear what’s coming next.” Simpson framed the setback as “a realignment for the long-term good,” which is the sharpest read on the situation: the immediate promotion push is on hold, but he is still protecting the project from a longer surgical recovery.
