Ange Postecoglou Joins ITV As World Cup Pundit This Summer
Ange Postecoglou has joined ITV as a World Cup pundit this summer, setting up a direct studio clash with Thomas Frank, who has signed with Sport as one of its main analysts. The former Tottenham managers will appear on rival broadcasters during a tournament that will be shown live in full across and ITV.
Postecoglou And Frank
Postecoglou’s move places him on ITV’s World Cup coverage alongside Andros Townsend, Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Roy Keane. Frank, sacked by Tottenham in February, joins the panel with Wayne Rooney, Joe Hart, Shearer and Olivier Giroud.
The pairing is the sharpest link between the two broadcasters’ summer plans. and ITV share UK rights for the World Cup, and both are building large studio teams around the expanded 48-team, 104-match tournament.
And ITV Plans
ITV will show England’s first game against Croatia on 17 June, plus England’s final group game against Panama and their quarter-final if Thomas Tuchel’s side reach that stage. The will have live coverage of England’s second group game against Ghana and any knockout fixtures in the last 32, last 16 and semi-finals.
The final on 19 July will be the only World Cup game both and ITV broadcast live. will carry 54 matches and ITV 51, with all 104 tournament games available live.
Brooklyn And Salford
ITV will base its coverage from a New York studio in Brooklyn with views of the Manhattan skyline, while the team of Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates will work from Salford until at least the quarter-finals. The stayed in the UK for financial and environmental reasons and said it is committed to limiting air travel to reduce its carbon footprint.
The last World Cup final still gives both sides a benchmark. The drew a peak audience of 15 million for Argentina against France in 2022, while ITV reached 4.3 million for the same match. Postecoglou now steps into ITV’s studio as that competition for viewers begins again, this time with Frank on the other side.
