Onel Hernandez backs Philippe Clement turnaround at Norwich City — Weather Bournemouth
Onel Hernandez said Philippe Clement changed Norwich City’s mood and methods after a poor start, and the club moved from the relegation zone to a top 10 finish. The former Norwich favorite made the comments about weather bournemouth at a Norwich City Fans Social Club event last Friday.
Hernandez said the squad faced fierce scrutiny after a spiral of performances and results last autumn. By 2026, Norwich had collected more points than any other Championship side and averaged close to two points per game.
Last November at Norwich City
Clement was appointed Norwich City head coach last November, and Hernandez linked that appointment to the change in results. He described Clement as “a positive coach” who “demands a lot of work from the players.”
“With the appointment of Clement, I think things changed, and he's such a positive coach, as you've seen as well,” Hernandez said.
He added: “You come to training ground and you know why are you doing it and where you want to go. Like this is the secret all the time. You need someone with good leadership and you have it with him.”

Hernandez told the Pink Un that the players responded to Clement’s approach. “They all turned around, and just the work that they put in there was just incredible,” he said. “They were pushing for playoffs.”
He also tied the turnaround to the team’s finish. “I believe if we had more games, they probably would be in the playoffs. I think it's very exciting now, exciting for next season,” Hernandez said.
His remarks put a simple marker on Norwich’s season: the club went from being talked about as a relegation team to finishing inside the top 10. For supporters, that leaves the focus on whether Clement’s methods can carry into another season with the same demands.
