Jets Set to Sign Tim Patrick for 10th NFL Season

Tim Patrick is set to join the Jets, giving New York a 32-year-old receiver heading into his 10th NFL season. The move ties him to Darren Mougey in New York after their Denver connection and gives the roster a veteran pass catcher who has stayed available over the past two seasons.

Patrick Joins New York

Patrick’s path back to a new contract has been defined by stops and returns. He came into the league as a Broncos waiver claim in 2018, earned a three-year, $30 million extension in 2021 and then was released shortly before the 2024 season.

New York is adding him after that stretch because he has worked his way back onto the field. Patrick played in 16 games in each of the past two seasons, a useful marker for a receiver whose earlier years were interrupted by injuries.

Broncos Years And Injuries

The injuries came in back-to-back years. Patrick suffered a torn ACL during training camp in 2022, then went down with an Achilles tear in July 2023. Those setbacks pushed him out of Denver just before the 2024 season, ending a run that had once included a long-term commitment from the Broncos.

His best Denver production came before the injuries hit. In 2020, Patrick caught 51 passes for 742 yards and six touchdowns. The following season, he caught 53 passes for 734 yards and five touchdowns.

Recent Production For Detroit

After leaving Denver, Patrick joined the Lions' practice squad and later moved to Detroit’s 53-man roster in 2024. He finished that season with 33 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns, then stayed in the mix when the Lions re-signed him in 2025.

Last summer, Detroit traded him to the Jaguars for a 2026 sixth-round pick. He answered with 15 catches for 187 yards and three touchdowns last season. The Jets now get a receiver who has shown he can still play through a difficult run and who has a direct link to Mougey’s previous stop.
