Gabby Williams Powers Sky Vs Valkyries Ahead of May 13 Clash
Gabby Williams carried momentum into sky vs valkyries after posting 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals in Golden State’s 95-79 win over Phoenix on Sunday. The Valkyries entered May 13 at 2-0, while Chicago arrived at 1-0 for a meeting of unbeaten teams at 10 PM ET.
Williams Drives Golden State
Williams did the damage against Phoenix with a line that touched every part of the box score. She scored 19 points and added five rebounds, three assists and four steals, giving Golden State a clear two-way option as it kept its season start intact.
Natalie Nakase pointed to how the veteran guard has settled in. “We’re just so excited how much she’s sitting really well with us,” Nakase said after Sunday’s win. “Her selflessness in the way she plays — it just fits perfectly.”
Chicago Brings a 1-0 Start
Chicago reached the matchup after a 98-83 road win over expansion side Portland on Saturday, then entered the game with a 1-0 record. It was the second stop on a four-game road trip, and the Sky were trying to keep pace with a Golden State group that had already beaten Seattle and Phoenix.
The Sky also arrived with a reshaped roster. Rickea Jackson and Skylar Diggins were among Chicago’s notable new additions in the Portland win, and the team had cut 2025 WNBA draft pick Hailey Van Lith days before the game. Van Lith later joined the Connecticut Sun.
Unbeaten Teams Meet
Both clubs came in without a loss, so one start would end at Chase Center. Golden State was in its second WNBA season and aiming for a postseason return, while Chicago was in the early stages of a rebuild.
That made the matchup a clean early read on each team’s direction. Golden State could lean on Williams’ all-around form, and Chicago had to protect a 1-0 start while carrying the wear of a road trip that was only beginning.
