Gabby Agbonlahor Calls Richarlison The Premier League's Slowest Player

gabby agbonlahor did not hold back after Tottenham’s draw with Leeds United. He called Richarlison the slowest player in the Premier League and said the forward’s display was horrendous after a result that left Spurs only two points above the relegation zone with two matches remaining.

Richarlison Under Fire

“He's the slowest player in the Premier League,” Agbonlahor said on the talkSPORT Breakfast show. “I would have a bet with anyone, Richarlison is the slowest player in the Premier League.”

The criticism came after Tottenham were held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Mathys Tel put Spurs ahead early in the second half, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled from the spot and denied them the win they needed.

Agbonlahor said Joe Rodon got the ball out of Richarlison on multiple occasions and added, “Horrendous performance from him.” Richarlison still leads Tottenham’s scoring this season with ten goals, but he struggled to shape a game Spurs wanted to control.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Pressure

“That was a painful watch,” Agbonlahor said of Tottenham’s display. He also said Leeds were in first gear for parts of the contest before stepping it up in the last 20 minutes, which left Spurs clinging to a draw instead of collecting points that would have eased the pressure on their run-in.

The table position gives the result its edge. Tottenham are two points above the relegation zone with two matches remaining, and they could drop into the bottom three before their next game if West Ham United beat Newcastle United.

Maddison Returns For Spurs

James Maddison made his first appearance of the season as a substitute after recovering from an ACL injury suffered in pre-season, and Agbonlahor said Spurs need him. “Good to see Maddison come on,” he said, before adding, “I've got to be the man” as the midfielder received an ovation.

Agbonlahor also said it would not surprise him if Maddison could start in the last game of the season. Tottenham’s next trip is to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where they have won just once in their last 13 meetings in all competitions, and that leaves the margin for another slip painfully thin.
