Six Flags Magic Mountain lockdown ends after bomb threat call
Six Flags Magic Mountain was placed on lockdown Monday after deputies responded to a call involving the park in Valencia, California, at 7:55 a.m. The park had not yet opened to the public when the response began.
Authorities evacuated employees, shut down both the main entrance on Magic Mountain Parkway and the employee entrance near Sky View Lane and Feedmill Road, and searched the grounds. California Highway Patrol officers helped with traffic control and securing entrances while the park stayed closed past its scheduled 10:30 a.m. opening.
Valencia Park Response
The sheriff’s office said just before noon that the park was cleared and safe. Officials said the leads were not credible and that it was only one call. No injuries were reported, and authorities did not say whether they found any suspicious items during the sweep.
Six Flags Magic Mountain said, “We are aware of the police activity at the park and are currently monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities.” Aerial footage showed multiple sheriff’s vehicles near the entrance, along with an armored sheriff’s vehicle and a fire engine on scene.
Magic Mountain Parkway
For visitors, the immediate change was simple: the park did not open on time and remained closed while deputies searched the property. Six Flags Magic Mountain normally operates from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the lockdown delayed that schedule well into the morning.
The park sits in Valencia and is known for having the most roller coasters in a single park. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation said it welcomed more than 50 million guests in 2024 across its portfolio, putting the Monday closure in front of a large operating schedule that depends on a fast reset after police activity.
CHP Traffic Control
CHP officers stayed with sheriff’s deputies as they managed the entrances and traffic around the property. By the time the sheriff’s office gave the all clear, the park had already missed several hours of its normal opening window, and the only practical next step for guests was to wait for the gates to reopen after the search finished.
