NextMove adds Highway 407 Etr to NextPass toll payments

NextMove by Cintra said on May 14, 2026 that NextPass now supports Highway 407 ETR, adding Toronto’s toll road to a service that works without a transponder. For drivers and fleets crossing between the United States and Canada, that means one toll payment option now spans both sides of the border.

Brad Wright on transponder friction

Brad Wright, chief executive of NextMove by Cintra, said consumers and fleets have long been frustrated by having to juggle transponders and figure out how to pay for tolls when moving across regions or countries.

He said that in partnership with 407 ETR, the company has been able to remove complexity and make tolling easier and interoperable for millions of vehicles that move between both countries.

NextPass across the border

NextPass is described as the first toll payment option to cover toll roads and managed lanes in both the United States and Canada, so the new Highway 407 ETR coverage turns a border-crossing promise into a specific lane-by-lane use case.

Jose Espinosa said the service is an option for out-of-province and US drivers traveling to Toronto and for Canadians traveling across the US, and he said drivers can focus on making memories at their next destination instead of figuring out how to pay for tolls.

GSP Transportation using NextPass

Ben Stoner, chief financial officer of GSP Transportation, Inc., said the South Carolina rental car operator had been using NextPass for several months and had been impressed with its transparency, level of service, and reduction in operational cycles.

He said once vehicles are rented, the company has no control over where they go, and NextPass ensures tolls are covered so it does not have to deal with tolling notices and fees.

For fleets, the practical step is simple: register at NextPass.io/fleets and bulk upload vehicles through the fleet registration process, while consumers can sign up at NextPass.io or through the NextPass app and register vehicles there.

The remaining question is operational rather than promotional: how quickly the system’s reporting, billing, and coverage behavior will hold up once more drivers and fleets start using Highway 407 ETR at scale.
