Kyle MacDonald Heads Hamilton Vs Clyde Into 2-1 Lead

Hamilton Academical led Clyde 2-1 in hamilton vs clyde after Kyle MacDonald scored a header from very close range. The goal came in the Scottish League 1 play-off final second leg, giving Hamilton the edge after a match that had already swung once.

McDonald and Gallacher turn it

Kai Smutek put Hamilton behind with an own goal, but Tony Gallacher levelled with a header from the centre of the box to the top left corner. Ewan Simpson delivered the corner that led to that equaliser, and Oli Shaw set up MacDonald’s go-ahead header from another corner.

MacDonald finished from the centre of the goal, and Hamilton did not need much space to flip the scoreline. The finish was close enough to leave Clyde chasing again after having already taken the lead in the tie.

Clyde chances fall away

Clyde had openings, but they did not produce an equaliser. Marley Redfern headed wide from the centre of the box after a corner, Craig Howie also sent a header off target from a similar position, and Barry Cuddihy had a right-footed shot from outside the box blocked.

Kyle Connell added another blocked effort from distance, a sign that Clyde were still trying to force a response without finding the final touch. Hamilton, by contrast, made their set-piece work count, first through Gallacher and then through MacDonald.

Scottish League 1 play-off final second leg

The match was the second leg of the Scottish League 1 play-off final, so the scoreline carried promotion weight inside a single game state. With Hamilton now ahead 2-1, Clyde were left needing a reply against a side that had already shown it could recover from a setback and punish another corner.
